Watering Hole of Consciousness

Our consciousness is just like a watering hole. It is an abundant pool, rich in nourishing energy, so we don’t need to worry about running out. And it is up to us to choose what we want to share our pool of energy with.

The thoughts we entertain are like little creatures that come for a drink, and we decide which ones we will grant access to. We choose what type of creatures we want at our pool.

Do we want unpleasant creatures that soil the banks of our pool, produce unpleasant noises, and emit noxious odours? If we feed one of these creatures it will return more often, get more secure footing on the banks, and start to bring other creatures like it to our shores. These would be thoughts that do not serve us.

Or do we want pleasant creatures that nourish our banks for beautiful plants to grow, produce beautiful sounds, and have a lovely fragrance around them? If we feed those creatures they will return more often, get more secure footing, and create a welcoming atmosphere for others like them to come.

Of course, we can have both types of creatures at the pool of our consciousness. However, the unpleasant squawking of the fowl ones can sometimes make it difficult for us to hear the beautiful call of the others.

Which thoughts do I want to welcome to the energy of my consciousness? If judgemental thoughts were a physical creature, which type would they be? I’m picturing something with slime.

What about compassionate thoughts, vengeful thoughts, abundant thoughts, impatient thoughts, loving thoughts, peaceful thoughts?
