Slow Motion Rain

Thank you to Marcia (creator of the Miralci YouTube channel) for the idea behind this visualization

Visualization for relaxation and focus

Visualize yourself sitting outside on a bench at night. There is a lamp post beside the bench you are sitting on, so you are in a bubble of light beyond which there is only darkness.

Now imagine that it starts to rain. The drops of water feel pleasantly cool against your skin. You listen to the sound of the rainfall. At first it is just the muffled sound of water hitting dirt, concrete, and wood, but eventually you start to hear the tinkling of drops falling into puddles.

Look around in your bubble of light and now see the raindrops start to fall more slowly, as if they were falling in slow motion. The raindrops also become bigger, so that each drop is easy for you to see. Some are the size of marbles, while other drops are as big as tennis balls.

In your mind’s eye see these raindrops falling slowly through the light, some striking the bench, others reaching the ground, and others landing on your skin. See each individual drop of water clearly as it falls. How many drops can you be conscious of at once?
