“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.” ~~From the song My Favourite Things sung by Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music
I think this is one of the most significant things that I learned when I started exploring spirituality.
Abraham Hicks is the first teacher I personally heard speak of this. We want the things we want because of the way we think they will make us feel. But it’s key to realize that we can feel the way we want right now (or at least move towards the feeling we want).
The isn’t a lot to say as far as how to do it. Think of the emotion you want to feel and try to hold that in your being.
To help, you can think of things, activities, or memories that match that feeling.
Keep in mind that some emotions are much further apart than others. If you are slightly irritated working your way over to being content is manageable. If you are in a rage, you aren’t going to be able to reach peaceful in the blink of an eye, but you can at least start to move in that direction (rage —> intense anger —> anger —> annoyance).
