2021 Week 21 Contemplation Thoughts
(Updated throughout the week)
- Not getting credit for something we’ve done feels like being unseen, unappreciated
- We take it so personally, breaking Agreement 2 from Don Miguel Ruiz’s Book The Four Agreements 🙂
- I think that when we feel like we aren’t getting the credit we deserve we can see this feel as a warning sign. It’s not about the other person. It’s about us. It’s about us not getting the results or behaviour from the other person that we wanted. That feeling is a little flag that we did what we did possibly with a bit of an ulterior motive. A need we want met
- When I clean vomit off of an infant I don’t expect anything. The infant gives me no credit and I’m fine. But, if I were to do the same thing for a friend, did not receive a thank you, and felt miffed about it, I think that it would indicate something about me. Did I want my friend’s acknowledgment and appreciating for what a good person I am? What a good friend I am? How much I am willing to do for others?
- Feeling truly appreciated is one of the best feelings. It’s understandable why people seek it, even unknowingly
- Can we get this same feeling we get when appreciated by another by appreciating ourselves?
- Can I appreciate myself when I haven’t checked off any boxes on my good deeds or accomplishments lists?
