“Meditation is the total comprehension of the whole of life and right action from that. Meditation is absolute silence of the mind; not relative silence or the silence thought projects and structures, but the silence of order, which is freedom. Only in that total, complete, unadulterated silence is truth, which is everlasting.” ~~ Jiddu Krishnamurti
What a beautiful quote. One thing I love about his quotes is that they usually make me pause and think more deeply.
“…the silence thought projects and structures…”
This line is so interesting, and I understand a little bit of what he means. There are times when meditating when thought stops but it’s as if it is simply holding its breath. This type of silence is fleeting because at any moment, with a great gasp, thoughts will come rushing back. You can’t hold your breath forever.
Another type of silence that I have been fortunate to experience is more expansive. It’s stillness. And this stillness is clear with no distortions.
