Being part of a group, a community, makes us feel part of something bigger than ourselves. An individual but part of a greater whole. It’s a faint echo of the feeling we have forgotten of being part of All That Is, one with the Universe
Do those who shun groups really not want to be a part of any group or do they not want to be part of any of the groups around them?
Are people who are happy without community complete within themselves?
Does community have to be with other humans? Maybe those who prefer to live “alone” away from other people have a stronger sense of community with trees, mountains, animals, etc
Community can be family, neighbourhood, towns, teams, clubs, organizations. Anything with a unifying idea
So many spirituality teachers say how we need community. That a person cannot go forward without it
But what about those who are not near like minded people? Are they doomed?
How does the idea of independence fit in with the idea of community?
I must admit, I have a hard time when I hear people say that you cannot grow spirituality without a group of like-minded people. I don’t like the idea that my progress, Or any aspect of my being, is dependent on what other people do or don’t do
A community is an entity on its own, and it evolves. It grows, it shrinks. It gains new components and sheds old ones
The people who make up a community represent different aspects of the whole
But can’t one person be whole and complete by themselves?
