2020 Week 38 Contemplation Thoughts
- The general ideas most people in our society hold about matter aren’t true. Physics showed us this long ago
- Thinks look solid to our eyes, so we carry on with a notion of solidity that isn’t real. All matter is made of of atoms, which consist of 99.99999% empty space, and subatomic particles, which are energy. What we consider to be physical reality is made of 99.99999% space and 0.00001% energy
- What brings these minuscule points of space and energy together? What keeps them together?
- If we let go of our old notion of solid what opens up for us?
- Where is Life? What is absent in the trunk of a dead tree and present in the trunk of a living tree? The matter still holds its form
- Is Life in the seemingly empty space between atoms? The empty space within atoms?
- If the thing that all physical stuff is made of is 99.99999% empty space then how do we see anything at all? What are we seeing? What are our eyes registering?
- Do atoms simply carry information? Are they little bundles of information that bond with other atoms to form more complex information?
- Do our five senses then interpret this information in their own particular way to form a picture/idea of reality that does not actually exists the way we think it does?
- Is matter an idea?
“Ancient Asian text teach us that the things that surround us—and even we human beings—are temporary manifestations of energy.”
