My take on a simple exercise for sending loving, positive energy to another.

First, make yourself comfortable.
Allow your body to relax, and your breathing to take on its natural rhythm.
Second, fill your being with the feeling of love.
You can do this by focusing on opening yourself to love energy. Try to connect to that energy directly for a minute or so, but then, if that is too abstract for you right now, you can think about a being that you feel nothing but love for, like a baby or your pet turtle, to help you connect to the feeling.
Finally, bring to mind the person, animal, etc that you wish to hold with love.
While maintaining that feeling of love you connected to in step 2, bring to mind the person/the animal/Mother Earth/etc that you wish to send the energy of love to. Hold that being in your loving focus.
You can do this exercise for as long as you feel like, or you can set a timer. Know that as you hold the other with love, the energy of love is also flowing through you and benefiting all levels of your being.
