H2O + O2

Visualization for relaxation and sleep

Visualize yourself walking down a long hallway. The walls, floor, and ceiling are all the same smooth, dark grey stone-like material that is slightly cool to the touch. The only sound you hear is your footsteps, but no echo. There are several doors on either side of the hallway, and eventually you come to the one you want, marked by deep blue lettering above the door that reads, “Oxygen Room”. The door swings silently as you push it open and step through, closing it behind you.

Inside, you find yourself in a room whose walls and ceiling are the same dark-grey, stone-like material as outside. The floor, however, is covered by several inches of water, save for a narrow walkway that leads from the door to a small platform at the centre of the room, both of which are made of the same material. There is something on the platform, but you can’t tell what it is quite yet.

The only illumination in the room is coming from soft lights running along the underside of the walkway and shinning up through the water. Beautiful patterns of light are cast about the room as the water gently laps back and forth. There is a muffled quiet in the room, except for the soothing sound of the lapping water and your steps as you move towards the platform, taking some deep breaths of the air that has a higher percentage of oxygen than usual.

Arriving at the platform you see that the object sitting on it is a chaise, perfectly curved for your body and carved from the same material as everything else you’ve seen. You sit down and lie back, and you’re happy to discover that though it looks like stone, it is not hard and unyielding, but rather supports your body comfortably.

You feel deeply relaxed as you watch the patterns of light dance across the walls. Eventually you allow your eyes to drift closed and simply listen to the water, steadily drawing the cool, refreshing air into your body.
