If you are having a hard time visualizing and don’t think you are any good at it there are some things you can do to get into the swing of things.
The first thing you need to do is stop thinking you aren’t good at visualizing. 🙂 People actually visualize all the time. Can you picture the kitchen in your friend’s house? Can you bring the face of a family member that you haven’t seen in several years to mind? That’s visualizing. It’s seeing things in your mind’s eye, not as an apparition in front of you.
Once step one is done, the next thing I tell people is to choose one simple visualization and stick with just that for a number of days. It’s better to stay with one and get comfortable with it than trying two or three different ones a day and not having success with any of them.
One of the simplest visualizations you can do is to imagine yourself surrounded by coloured light. It doesn’t matter which colour you pick, but choose one that evokes the feeling you want. Â If you want to feel peaceful, blues and greens might do the trick. If you want to feel energized, try vibrant reds. I find bronze give me a feeling of strength. You can’t choose the wrong colour. If the colour red helps you fall asleep, go with that.
Once you can do this with ease, try adding another simple visualization into the mix.
