The short answer? Relaxing.
Now for the longer answer. There really is nothing you “should” be doing. Different people do different things. Some people like to set an intention for the session. Their intention could be to let go of something specific, like a habit or the need to micromanage their employees, or it could be an intention to be more centred or accepting of others and themselves. Other people like to do some type of visualization while some simply meditate. The list goes on. It’s whatever works for you and whatever will serve you best for that session. There is no reason you can’t focus on patience in one session and then clear your mind and meditate in the next.
I’ve found that Reiki energy helps to bring clarity to challenges I’m dealing with and limiting beliefs that I’m trying to let go of. It also helps me to really “get” any new ideas, emotions, or truths that I want to embody, so I have begun holding a concept, or emotion in mind more often recently.
Whatever it is you choose to do in your session, relaxation is still the main thing because then everything flows unimpeded. Just relax. And really, isn’t that one of the main reasons you booked a session anyway?
So, for the duration of your session, make up your mind that you will not be mentally making a list of everything you have to get done before that big budget meeting at work or once again reliving the argument you had with your father-in-law. Let all of that go and do whatever it is that makes you feel the most at ease.
Commit to relaxing by any means necessary! 🙂
